Last Friday I was working away on my websites, as you do, when an acquaintance asked me via messenger “would you like to take part in an experiment?”, so naturally before committing I asked for more information, “all I want you to do is host a blog for me, I’ll provide the content”.
Totally intrigued I said I’d give it a go, my friend then added that any revenue generated by the blog would be mine and he would pay for hosting and domain name, I thought about this and said no if the revenue is mine its only fair that hosting and domain cost come from my pocket.
The upshot is that my friend has discovered a source that will provide unique content at a very reasonable price and the experiment is to find out how well the content performs on this blog before he unleashes it to the big wide world.
The experiment will run for 90 days.
Next step was to think of a topic for the blog, my initial thought was Mobile Phones, as that is an area I don’t currently operate a site in, we decided to sleep on it.
On Sunday I got a shout on msn “how about HDTV?… hdavice.co.uk is available.” Another area where I don’t have a dedicated site so I said it’s got potential.
Monday morning came and I pinged my friend telling him that I would register the domain and set up the blog, he went off to arrange the first four articles from his source.
Monetising the blog gave me a bit of a headache, decided to go with Amazon, I set up an aStore, and added the code for contextual links, plus a block of products in each article which are also contextual.
Last night September 19th I got the call that the first four articles had arrived so after giving them a thorough checking they were posted on the blog HD Advice
This morning the first mini triumph is that 2 of the articles have been picked up by Google Blogs.
The experiment is set to run until 18th of December when I will let you know how things have gone.
If it turns out to be a success my friend will possibly be launching an article / content service and I will be most likely buying articles from him, if its not a success……… nah not even going to go there, don’t want to put the mocha’s on the project before it gets off the ground.

Blog Experiment with Fully Outsourced Content
Every wonder how a site with content that is bought externally performs? Imagine not having to write a single article (for those of us who always say “I’m not a writer”), pay for really cheap content …
