Like many affiliates I enjoy a love hate relationship with Google, and during the bad times I simply see it as an occupational hazard and get on working my way through the slump.
Presently I am enjoying a particularly bad patch, not only have a few sites been hit but as a double whammy some of my long term ppc has been given a quality score slap, but like I said I’ll get over it in time.
One thing that has annoyed me though is that my Charity Voucher Codes website Vouchers UK, has been given a slap and moved down from pretty high on page one of Google to the bottom of page 14 for the term Vouchers UK, don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect any special treatment just because half the revenue the site makes goes to charity it just gets my goat that I am not able to raise as much for worthy causes as I would like to.
Anyway writing about the slap has had the desired effect and now I have got the frustration out of my system I can put it behind me and work on getting the site back up to being an also ran in the discount voucher world rather than a non runner.
While on the subject of charity though are you aware of the Existem AM Summer BBQ Charity Raffle in aid of the local RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) please support them in anyway you can, attend the BBQ, give a prize or at the very least buy a ticket.

I have just discovered that my voucher codes website was mentioned in an article in The Sun way back on 20th of January so its only taken me 10 weeks to realise, check out the article here I try a week as a voucher vulture.
Just scroll down to Friday and you will see vouchersuk.co.uk in the useful sites box.
So thank you very much Judy Cogan and The Sun for the mention its much appreciated.
Has it brought in much traffic? In a word no, a grand total of 112 visitors to date but I’m not complaining my humble site is listed in the company of the big boys and that means a lot to me.

As many people are currently building and developing websites around voucher / coupon / promotional / discount codes I have decided to buck the trend and move out of the arena.

My decision to concentrate more on my other websites has not been taken lightly but I feel I have taken this site as far as I want to go, and I have little time these days for updating it, someone more dedicated to the niche will be able to take it to a higher level.
The site in question is Vouchers UK I’m the first to admit its not the prettiest site in the world and it could certainly benefit from being moved to a CMS from the current WordPress.
History
The site originally went under the name Bargain Beetle (established 2003) but was re branded last year.

As a content affiliate my dedicated voucher code site often gets neglected at busy periods, kudos to those voucher professionals who diligently update codes daily I unfortunately don’t have the time or often the inclination, yes I could automate the process there are a few white labels popping up for discount vouchers such as promotions.co.uk and icodes.co.uk which are great, but that route doesn’t appeal to me. I’m happy just to bide my time and pick up the odd sale by using my own approach.
One thing I would like to see tackled by the networks is the problem of expired codes and in my opinion this could be tackled by serving them up using JavaScript, by using this method the Code, the Offer and the Expiry Date need never be wrong again on an affiliate site (providing the merchant / network updates it).
This would work great on content sites too, where I am likely to use the current code for a merchant when I write an article, it would be fantastic if the code simply updated or disappeared after the expiry date.
