		<description>don't know how old this post is, but have just spotted it (might be an idea to put dates on your posts :-)). 

In the webgains system, we have added in the "data feed download" the date when the file was last changed on its location (on the merchant's site) and the date we last tested it (daily). Furthermore, in the "data feed url generator" there is a tick box "check for changes only". You can check whether a feed has changed since you last fetched it using this checkbox. If checked the URL will return 1 if the feed has changed since you last fetched it, or 0 if it is still the same.
